English is a versatile natural language with considerable flexibility on word meanings. English is also the international language of science and business and there is an increasing use of established words as shorthand to express technical or specialist meanings. Word-code is being designed to allow complex text to be edited so that the precise meaning of ambiguous or specialist word can be translated by the reader. We believe this will be of particular benefit to those for whom English is a second language. We also believe that if all official, legal, academic and product information documents were pre-edited using the word-code system, this would allow for much greater public access.
