March 2004: Credit
where credit's due.
Sir
On the Government's plans to
tackle waste, you say "Labour has always been expert at
stealing its opponents' clothes" and that it is
"shameless" (Leaders,
Mar 18).
Admittedly both the Tories and the Liberal Democrats have been
arguing that reducing the cost of bureaucracy is an important
element in their tax and spending proposals.
But Labour commissioned the current investigation into the
inefficiencies of government. And Labour has made no secret of
its determination to reform public services.
Credit where credit's due.
